Prevent over treat – Wrinkles

My philosophy is to prevent over treat

In other words prevent a problem from happening rather than treat it.

Depending on your situation you may need to treat than take measures to prevent the problem from happening again .

wrinkles are inevitable we are all going to get them sooner or later no matter how hard you try but there are ways to avoid getting them sooner and avoid them being as deep

the thing is there really is no way to get rid of them completely well except maybe plastic surgery but who can afford to or wants to go through that. there are some lotions and potions out there that will help but your best bet is to prevent them

Some preventative measures are

Always wear sun protection  even on a cloudy day the sun is one of the biggest factors when it comes to skin damage and premature aging so slip slop slap slide slip on a protective shirt slop on some sunscreen slap on a hat and slide on sunglasses you may look like a dag but at least you wont look like a leathery old fool

Use anti aging products before you start aging particularly a natural organic product with lots of nourishing ingredients even if they don’t tend to do too much of a job getting rid of deep wrinkles some are packed with beautiful nourishing ingredients thast work wonderfully to keep your skin healthy smooth and glowing

Do not drink through a straw just think about it , you get wrinkles around your mouth from laughing smiling and frowning what happens when you scrunch up your lip area like that to suck from the straw, yeah just drink from a glass or if you are out and have got to get a drink from a can or bottle it isn’t going to harm you drinking from it

Eat drink and wear antioxidants, Antioxidants are found in foods such as fruits vegetables and drinks such as green tea they fight free radicals which are harmful molecules that latch onto your DNA and cause mutations such as wrinkles , eat a healthy diet and slather on moisturizers containing antioxidant rich ingredients, you can also make your own treatments such as face masks   containing   antioxidant rich ingredients

Be happy , frowning depression and stress age you more than you may realize

Quit or limit alcohol if it is a special occasion sure you can drink if you want to but keep it to a minimum and try to go for a lighter option if possible.

obvious but true quit smoking

Review – Burt’s Bees Naturally ageless day lotion

What is it – Burt’s Bees naturally ageless line diminishing  day lotion

Size – 57g (2oz)

price – AU $49.95

How natural is it – 99.0%

Ingredients – Water, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycerin, stearic acid, sucrose distearate, alcohol denat, sucrose stearate, dioscorae villosa (wild yam) root extract , acmella oleracea (para cress ) extract , punica granatum (pomegranate) extract, chrondrus crispus (carrageenan) extract, lecithin , glucose, fragrance , xanthan gum , sodium chloride, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase

To be honest i do not believe in creams that claim to get rid of wrinkles, most or all of them just temporarily fill the wrinkle so as soon as you wash your face they are back which is ok i guess it still gives the appearance of younger skin  . My philosophy is to prevent over treat which is precisely the reason i use an anti aging cream .

So i am 25 (will be in a couple of months) and i would say so far my skin has held up pretty well . i do have some tiny lines underneath my eyes but i think they are pretty unnoticeable. So i can not really say how well this product works for getting rid of deeper wrinkles .

So even though i am not treating wrinkles i am preventing them i have got to say i love this  lotion .

The packaging is very impressive it contains ingredient information on the box and contained a leaflet with extra information, i love it when a company takes the time to explain why the ingredients are used .

The fragrance is very fresh and natural and is a fruity pomegranate  a little strong but you get used to it and come to love it (well i did anyway)

this day lotion is light weight absorbs well it is not too greasy but it also leaves a nice natural glow

As it is winter my skin tends to dry out from constant heating, the cold wind and air outside and getting the flu the naturally ageless collection has helped rehydrate my skin and i have noticed my skin is not suffering as much this winter .

Before i apply any makeup i like to apply a good moisturizer in my opinion it creates a smooth surface helps the makeup absorb better and  makes the makeup appear more dewy this day lotion works perfectly as a makeup base it delivers  on all my expectations as a makeup base .

The  only negative thing i have to say about this day lotion is that it does not provide any sun protection . i have got fair skin which tends to burn easy so sun protection is very important to me so i do not think this is going to be a good day lotion for me through summer when i tend to be out in the sun a lot  .

For best results i recommend using the whole Burt’s Bees naturally ageless range which includes the day lotion, night cream repairing serum and eye cream all of which i will review shortly

Homemade- Natural buzz face mask and body scrub/mask

My face is under a lot of stress at the moment i have a flu so my nose is looking very red sore and dry and the rest of my face could also use a pick me up it is looking a bit dull and dry.

So my solution create a face mask using every moisturizing soothing and nourishing ingredient i can find in my kitchen

I used extra ingredients as i plan to use it as a body scrub too you could halve the ingredients for just a face mask

Ingredients

1 Cup of oatmeal (quick oats ) ground in a coffee grinder to make a smoother consistency

2 Tablespoons honey

One egg

3 Tablespoons milk

2 Tablespoon coconut oil (or oil of choice example olive oil, avocado oil)

2 Tablespoon of brown sugar

How to make

Grind oats in a coffee grinder to make a smooth soft powder

Mix in brown sugar

melt coconut oil and honey in the microwave for about fifteen seconds ( until coconut oil and honey are runny )

Give the egg a quick whisk add milk

mix all ingredients until smooth and thick

Cleanse face with a gentle cream cleanser and rinse with warm water

Pat the mixture onto your skin it is really thick and sticky so really squish it onto your face

Leave on for fifteen minutes

While you are waiting for fifteen minutes add approximately one cup of sugar and half a cup of oats ( not grounded) to your mixture and mix , add extra milk until you get a nice thick gluggy mix pretty much the same as the mask but more gritty

Pop into the shower and wash your body with your usual body wash

Turn off the water and massage that goo all over your body  especially concentrating on extra dry areas

Massage in and leave on for as long as you can stand in the shower up to 15 minutes

Rinse your face and body well finish with a cream cleanser and body wash if desired ( i like to just to make sure there is no left over residue )

Pat skin dry with a towel than apply moisturizer and body lotion

My thoughts

I think i just came up with a new favorite!!

The mixture is quite sticky so it stays on your face well and the smell oh my i could have eaten it if it didn’t have raw egg in it to me it smelt just like cookie dough yuuuuumm

I was pretty shocked when i looked in the mirror after my shower before the mask my face was very dull and looked quite bad thanks to this dreaded flu and winter but it was glowing again, it exfoliated without the need for scrubbing and a lot of the redness has gone down .

The body scrub worked very well it was a bit sticky and gluggy for a good scrubbing but it did still exfoliate and moisturize

This is definitely  one i will use again and maybe even work on improving once my kitchen is more stocked up

What is in an ingredient – Honey

Honey is one of those ingredients i love, it smells nice it tastes delicious and those buzzy little critters put so much effort into making it.

But did you know that honey is not only lovely and healthy to eat but it is actually also good for your skin

Here are a few reasons why honey is popular in products and homemade beauty treatments

Honey contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties  so it disinfects and helps heal minor cuts scrapes burns and even pimples

Honey is rich in vitamins minerals and amino acids which nourish your skin

Honey contains antioxidants which help fight free radicals which cause premature aging

Honey is a humectant which means it helps attract moisture to your skin

Honey draws impurities from pores which helps prevent pimples

So how can you use honey

Slather honey on your face and leave on for fifteen minutes than rinse for a refreshing moisturizing and healing face mask

Add some honey to your bath water

Spot treat pimples

Apply honey to minor wounds and cover with a band-aid

Make your own body scrub using honey olive oil and sugar

Remember there are many types of honey you can use regular honey or try something different like manuka honey

top to toe moisturizing night treatment using only one product

What if i told you that you can have a full body and hair treatment that will moisturize protect and heal and relax you using just one product , a product that is available at your local health food store and will cost a lot less than your leavein conditioner body lotion and foot cream .

That one product is coconut oil

Start by having your shower cleanse your face and wash your body as usual than tone your face

Massage the coconut oil into your body especially concentrate on any aches and pains and dry spots.

Massage into your feet concentrate on heals which tend to be dryer and don’t forget your nails and cuticles pop on some socks so you don’t slip over.

Massage your scalp with the coconut oil, massaging your scalp helps stimulate hair growth and the coconut oil will moisturize and help clear scalp conditions such as dandruff massage for as long as you like the longer the better than run the coconut oil through your hair for a deep conditioning treatment . Sleep with a shower cap on or place a towel over your pillow to stop oil stains on your pillows .

Massage the coconut oil into your hands nails and cuticles .

Go to sleep try to get at least the recommended eight hours

wake up in the morning and have a shower to wash your hair as it will be greasy.

Do this treatment as often as you like, i do it every other day or every few days as i like to use my other products too

Some optional extra steps

If you have trouble sleeping try mixing a few drops of lavender essential oil into your coconut oil

If your skin is looking a bit dull and feeling extra dry try using a body scrub in your shower before the treatment to remove dead skin cells , click here try my deep exfoliation body scrub recipe-

Why not give yourself a full facial  exfoliate and use a face mask before applying your coconut oil.

Light a scented candle and put on some relaxing music.

Quick tip – Mix it up

There is no rule saying that you have got to use only one brand or one product .At times our skin has different needs than at other times ,For example  you might have dry skin most of the time but you may also get acne occasionally

It is also great to mix and match your skincare because different products have different ingredients so you can feed your skin more by using one thing one day and another the next.

So look around if you can not decide which brand to go with or which product will be best buy both and enjoy the different benefits from each product.
